Steampunk Altered Sweetie Tube

This is my entry for the Smeared and Smudged Junk Funk January Challenge found here!
I have altered at Milkybar buttons tube using Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells papers.

I covered the tube and peeled back a section at the 'front', this was covered with Triple Thick and had Black Soot Distress Glitter adhered to it. I've added black web lace around the bottom, some die cut cogs from the X-Cut die set and some black adhesive blingy flourishes.

I added a small cut out from the papers. I then stamped some steampunk style butterflies onto a sheet of plain matching paper from the 6x6 pad, coated them in Triple Thick and fussy cut them.

There are some cogs all the way around the tube and at the top.

The slit in the top was made before I sellotaped it shut and it's only big enough for 5pence pieces - I'm thinking I will save them for the next Craft show at the SECC!

Think Warm Spring Thoughts!

It's blooming cold! So, cheer up and think warm happy thoughts with our new challenge at Crafting by Designs this week. We are sponsored by Oak Pond Creations and I have used their very cheerful 'Sunflowers' image to create a card. I have used a shaped C5 card and highlighted the scallops with platinum Liquid Pearls. The sentiment and papers are from Craftwork Cards - the Tea Dance and Colourwash collections - and I've finished the card with some yellow organza ribbon. The image is coloured as usual with Promarkers.

I hope you can join our challenge this week!

Challenge 100 at Love to Create!

We are celebrating our 100th challenge this week at Love to Create! I hope you can join us for this fabulous sketch challenge sponsored by Stitchy Bear Stamps. I have used the Vampire Witch image which comes with a matching sentiment and created a celebration card with a scary vibe.

I have coloured her with Promarkers and used some Halloween themed papers from my stash - these were a blog candy present so I'm not sure of the brand. I cut rectangles of the chevron paper as per the sketch but rather than ovals I used my X-Cut parenthesis rectangles as a mount for the image. I figure her train kind of looks like the banner on the sketch and have added the sentiment and some Papermania self adhesive gems to finish.

Here is the sketch if you would like to play along!

Thanks for looking - let's see your take on the sketch!

Who would like a Scary Story?

That is the theme of the current challenge at Left of Center Creative Challenges where we are sponsored by the fabulous Ike's Art and I have gone a bit arty for my card this week!

One of the fabulous facebook groups that I belong to had a little tutorial on using distress inks, water, and a few other bits to make interesting backgrounds for our cards - this was led by the fabulous Zoe Russell and I had a play along and ended up with a few different backgrounds and this one I thought would be great for today's card.

I have used the Ike's Art image 'Hatter' which depicts the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland - I only recently read the original novel and found it a tad darker than the Disnified version of my childhood! I have also recently been watching YouTube videos of Dyan Reaveley for Ranger Inc and so my card has become a mesh of both Zoe and Dyan - thank you so much for the inspiration ladies!

I have used the Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations Weathered Clock die on the card and the image is coloured with Promarkers and fussy cut. The background colours were Stormy Sky, Crushed Olive and Wild Honey with the edges coloured with Dusty concord and Black Soot before mounting onto the card. The dots are a Visible Image stamp called Retro Dots and have been embossing using Purple Heat it Up embossing powder. The white pen throughout is a Uniball Signo white pigment ink pen. I really hope you like it!

I had so much fun making this card! Even my 12 year old son was asking about making a card since this is a good bit different from things he's seen me making before. I image that you'll be seeing more like this from me!

I'd like to enter this card into the Ike's Art challenge this week - Anything Goes.
It's also Alice in Wonderland inspired songs at Musically Challenged this fortnight - my favourite band are called Terrorvision and one of their greatest songs is called 'Alice What's the Matter?' which I always took as a reference to Alice in Wonderland feeling lost and confused. The song begins with the line 'Tick, tock, tick, tock, Alice What's the Matter?' Hence my using the clock on the card with the Hatter. I will also enter this into the Simon Says Monday Challenge - A is for 'Alice'

Pink and girly is what we're going for this week at Crafting by Designs. Our latest challenge is sponsored by All Dressed Up digital stamps and I have used their Abi Ballerina image for this very girly birthday card.

I have coloured the image using Promarkers and the papers and sentiment are from Craftwork Cards. I have used a set of X-Cut dies to cut fancy 'parenthesis' rectangles to mount her on and finished the card with pink organza, flowers and pins with some diamantes in the corners too.

Mardi Gras Colour Challenge for Dilly Beans

Hi!! I am so excited, I just have to share this with you first! I shopped the Sizzix sale and the courier arrived with my box of goodies just now! Lots and lots of Tim Holtz dies and embossing folders and some other sizzix nesting dies and I just dont know where to start!!

Anyway, a wee change for me today, I've actually made a card for a challenge rather than for a DT post! Dilly Beans challenges are now fortnightly so here's hoping I can actually get an entry in every time! The current challenge is to use 'Mardi Gras' Colours which they have specified as being Purple, Green and Gold.

I had a wee play about with some Tim Hotlz distress paints in Dusty Concord and Mowed Lawn onto a kraft card base and added some spritzes of Purple Dylusions for extra purple. Dont think it was quite the card to use but it was for the background so quite happy. I used some green core'dinations with a skully embossing folder and die cut some stars from a sheet of Craftwork Cards colour wash paper from the 'Holiday' pack. The image I chose was #418 Lulu Framed (*they are having a BOGO sale will Jan 31st!!!) and I've coloured her with shades of purple and green Promarkers with some Gold Stickles to her hearts. Some 'gold' yellow organza ribbon and extra gold stickles finishes the card.

As well as entering the Dilly Beans challenge, I'll also enter her here -
Card Mania - Anything Goes
Make it Monday - Anything Goes
Sprinkle and Sparkle - Anything Goes with Glitter
Stamps and Fun = Creativity - Embossing

Thanks for looking, hope you like it!

This week at Love to Create we want you to Button it! That is, we would like your entries to contain one or more buttons! Our sponsor is Stamp Art by Kathryne at Whimsy Stamps, and I have used the Sapphire fairy image to create a silver and purple glittery card for this challenge.

I used the First Editions Dreamcatcher paper pad and some Spellbinders label dies. The image is coloured using Promarkers and I have added Star Dust Stickles to her wings and Silver Stickles to the buttons on either side of the image. The card is finished with stick on diamantes in the corners.

Thanks for looking! I hope you will join us for this challenge!

Steampunk Challenge at PunkyouGirl

Time for a new challenge at PunkyouGirl and this month's theme is Steampunk!
I have used the Steampunk Peg image by Rick St Dennis available at I Brake for Stamps.

I have coloured her up with Promarkers and gone with a turquoise and orange colour scheme to match my Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells 8x8 paper pad that I used for the background. I love this paper and haven't used much of it so thought I'd just get in there and start cutting! I've layered the elements with black pearlescent papers and die cut some cogs from the same paper. I finished with some black head pins and rolled roses with black Stickles for a sparkle.

Thanks for looking, I hope you'll join us for our dark themed, Steampunk challenge!

Christmas Fun All Year Round!

Yes, it's the middle of January, but I will be posting Christmas cards in the middle of every month! We have a new challenge blog that started at the beginning of the year with a view to working on Christmas every month - the Christmas Fun Challenge Blog! Our theme for this half of Januray is 'Non-Traditional Christmas Colours' - so no red/green/gold type combos!

I have gone with pink and lime green. I've used a woodchip tree embellishment and some Dovecraft Christmas papers. A Craftwork Cards sentiment and some pink ribbon finish the card. Quick and simple are my kind of cards, especially at Christmas when you maybe have dozens or more to create. The embellishment came from Poundland of all places, in a self adhesive set of about eight pieces.

I hope you will embrace the holidays and join us for Christmas Fun!

I have used the 'Growing Together digi set' and kept my card CAS in style. I have coloured in with Promarkers and mounted the image onto red pearlescent paper and some yellow backing paper that was a magazine freebie last year. Some light yellow organza, sticky pearls and a Craftwork Cards sentiment finish the card.

I hope you will join us this week! Thanks for looking!

Stepper Card Challenge at Love to Create

We have a fabulous new sponsor this week at Love to Create. Art by Mi Ran is an etsy shop full of gorgeous images - she's also got a blog here for more information. I used a winter girl with snowflakes and coloured her with promarkers. I've added Star Dust Stickles and Opal White Liquid Pearls to the snow on the picture.

The card is covered with some older Craftwork Cards winter papers and I've used Die'sire snowflake dies to cut white snow embellishments. The smaller ones are from Robert Adams.

I hope you will join us for this challenge, we look forward to seeing what you create!

Birthday Challenge at Crafting by Designs

Please excuse the super quick post from me today - my youngest is poorly! I'm scheduling this Tuesday evening while he naps, I think it may be a long night.

Anyways, while he rests, I've made a card using Whimsical Going Somewhere Girl AlishBA from The Octopode Factory. I love Lily's images and we are delighted to be sponsored by her this week at Crafting By Designs - why not show us your birthday creations to be in with a chance of winning some gorgeous Octopodes of your own.

I have used a Halloween paper pad, Oct 31 by Fancy Pants Designs to create this card. It's layered up with black pearlescent paper on a black 6x6" card base. I've coloured the image as always with Promarkers and matched the papers to the turquoise and purple colours of the image. The sentiment is Craftwork Cards as is the purple Candi corners. I've finished with a black seam binding bow, rolled roses and black pins.

Thanks for looking, I hope you'll join us this week at Crafting by Designs.

Blue with bling Challenge at Love to Create

This week's challenge at Love to Create is being sponsored by the fabulous Sassy Studio Designs and the theme is 'Blue with Bling'. I chose the Smurfette Sassy.... cos she's blue!

I used my X-cut parenthesis dies to mat the image, a border punch down the side and a sentiment from Craftwork Cards. The image is coloured with promarkers and StarDust Stickles and to finish I used strips of diamantes and a blue and white flower combo.

Quick and easy and very much rushed this week! It's back to school tomorrow so hopefully back into routine and I will get ahead of the game again! Thanks for looking!

A New Year and A New Home Card for A New Challenge at Just for Fun

Time for a new challenge at Just For Fun and rather than being a 'New Year' card, the theme is 'Anything New' so I have made a 'New Home' card for my best friend who recently moved house and changed job all at the same time!
I have used the Vintage Boho kit from Craftwork Cards which includes papers, sentiments, die cut flowers and birds with birdhouses. I thought the bird house was very apt for a new home. I have used some 'pink bubblegum' Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels to give a pearly sheen which you cant quite see (sorry!) and edged the flowers and sentiments with Worn Lipstick distress ink. The central panel uses the Spellbinders Fleur de Lis square die and I've finished with some lace and diamante sparkles.

I used my paper pricking tool to help shape the layers of the flowers before using Cosmic Shimmer glue to adhere the layers and attach the blooms to the card.

I hope you will pop over to the Just for Fun challenge blog and see the inspiration from the rest of the team and let us have a look at your 'New' makes!
thanks for looking!

Happy New Year from Craft Mojo!

Another Happy New Year from Me! Another another new challenge!
This month at Craft Mojo we want to see your 'New' projects! Whether it be 'New Year', 'New Job', 'New Baby', a new stamp or new paper line or something else 'new' for you - please make sure you tell us what that is in your blog post - link it up to Craft Mojo for a chance to win a prize!

Here is my project, a Happy New Year card using two new digital stamps from Delicious Doodles - the Romantic Clock Face and New Year sentiment freebie. I have left the clock as it was and coloured around the sentiment using 'Sunkissed Pink' Promarker to tone in with the hearts on the clock. I've mounted the images onto black pearlescent paper, silver holographic card and made it into an easel card. I've finished with a couple of Die-namics flourishes cut from the same holo card and some holo candi!
